Member, SEACO Board
Professor Ian Smith is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Research Infrastructure) at Monash University. He plays a University-wide leadership role, and is responsible for managing the development and implementation of infrastructure strategy as well as investing in leading-edge infrastructure and equipment to support Monash University’s research aspirations.
Previously at Monash University, Professor Smith was a National Health and Medical Research Council-funded Professorial Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Deputy Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. He collaborates and consults widely with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and has filed many patents. He is a co-founder of a publicly listed proteomics-based biotechnology company, and sits on many national and international committees and advisory boards.
Prof Smith has been a member of the SEACO Board since its establishment in 2011.
